CRAFTSMANSHIP THAT IMPROVES OVER TIME
CLAIM #1
When comparing student work over time, particularly in collaborative publications, it can be seen that tasks have become more complex and the products have increased in quality when students have the opportunity to revise their work.
At Open World Learning Community, revision is an expectation. Our system for standards-based grading and reporting ensures that students come to value the process of revision and come to understand that learning is a process. Looking at a student's work in brainstorming, planning, creating, editing, receiving feedback, revising and revising again until they are satisfied can tell a larger story about a student's mastery of a topic. A similar story can be read from comparing a project or product that an instructor assign for several different groups of students.
